Rediscovering Joy Through Little Acts of Care
In life’s most challenging moments, it’s often not the grand gestures that help us heal, it’s the small, intentional acts of care. As part of our Forbes World’s Best Employer recognition, we’re celebrating stories from our colleagues that remind us how powerful these little acts can be.
And little acts of care can be for oneself. Today, we share Anetta’s perspective on how she cares for herself with kindness and through everyday habits. Anetta joined Kimberly‑Clark in 2022, and in her role as Senior Administrative Assistant, she brings a deep sense of connection and purpose to her work. Beyond her day‑to‑day responsibilities, she nurtures her wellbeing through simple rituals and creativity, practices that became essential during a difficult period in her life and ultimately shaped the story she shares here.
Finding Strength in Small StepsDuring a particularly difficult time personally, Anetta realized that healing didn’t come from dramatic changes, but from consistent, mindful practices. These became her anchors:
-
Daily Grounding Rituals
Starting each day with moments of stillness, whether through prayer, reflection, or simply breathing deeply outdoors, helped her find clarity and reminded her she wasn’t alone. -
Protecting Energy
Choosing genuine support and setting emotional boundaries allowed space to breathe and recharge. -
Practicing Self-Kindness
Speaking to herself with compassion was transformative. She learned that worth isn’t tied to achievement, it’s inherent. -
Listening to Body and Mind
Recognizing signs of overstimulation led her to calming practices like gentle movement, mindfulness, and quiet time. -
Rediscovering Joy Through Creativity
Returning to hobbies, gardening, painting, embroidery, wasn’t just leisure; it was a way to express care and creativity. -
Finding Purpose in Connection
Volunteering at work gave her a renewed sense of purpose and belonging. -
Asking for Help
Reaching out to trusted friends, family and colleagues became an act of strength, not weakness.
Through these small acts, Anetta discovered that even in overwhelming circumstances, joy and meaningful relationships are possible. Challenges don’t define us, they shape us. Her story is a reminder that care begins with ourselves.
